Technology

Tunable diaphragm technology – a 3M invention – enables different frequency sounds to be heard by simply adjusting the pressure on the chestpiece. Use light pressure on the chestpiece to listen for low-frequency sounds; press a little harder to hear higher-frequency sounds. This time-saving feature allows the practitioner to focus on the patient, while the non-chill rims provide comfort for the patient. The headphone tension is easily adjusted for head size and comfort by squeezing or pulling together the earcups.

Patented 3M™ Littmann® Stethoscope Seal Eartips are soft, airtight eartips that provide a comfortable fit and excellent acoustic isolation. The eartips fit tightly over the ends of the eartip spring and require careful effort to remove safely. Durable next-generation tubing maintains its shape and flexibility even after being tightly folded and tucked into a pocket. Improved resistance to skin oils and alcohols ensures longer stethoscope life and is less likely to stain. Next-generation tubing is free of natural rubber latex and phthalate plasticizers to benefit sensitive clinicians and their patients, while also helping to protect human health and the environment.
