Adjustable Diaphragm Technology

Tunable diaphragm technology – a 3M invention – enables different frequency sounds to be heard by simply adjusting the pressure on the chestpiece. Use light pressure on the chestpiece to listen for low-frequency sounds; press a little harder to hear higher-frequency sounds. This time-saving feature allows the practitioner to focus on the patient, while the non-chill rims provide comfort for the patient. The headphone tension is easily adjusted for head size and comfort by squeezing or pulling together the earcups.

Patented 3M™ Littmann® Stethoscope Seal Eartips are securely fastened, soft, leak-proof eartips that provide a comfortable fit and excellent acoustic isolation. The eartips fit tightly over the ends of the eartip springs and require careful effort to remove safely. Durable next-generation tubing maintains its shape and flexibility even after being tightly folded and tucked into a pocket. Improved resistance to skin oils and alcohols results in longer stethoscope life and is less likely to stain. New-generation tubing is free of natural rubber latex and phthalate plasticizers to benefit sensitive clinicians and their patients, while also helping to protect human health and the environment. The Classic III stethoscope is made in the USA to ensure consistent quality. It comes with large and small soft seal eartips, heavy-duty eartip springs, a non-chill bell frame, and an instruction manual.
