Product Description
Superior absorption thanks to the unique 3D foam. In contact with exudate, the 3D foam structure of Biatain® Silicone Ag conforms perfectly to the wound bed for superior absorption – even under compression. The unique 3D foam structure absorbs exudate vertically, locking the fluid within its structure while still keeping the wound moist, providing optimum wound healing conditions. Close contact with the wound bed reduces dead space and minimizes exudate accumulation that can lead to infection.
Long-term silver release
Silver complex with documented activity against bacteria commonly found in infected non-healing wounds, including MRSA, VR-E, ESBL-producing bacteria and Pseudomonas. Silver profile provides sustained silver release throughout the entire wear period (up to 7 days).
Precise and safe seating
The silicone adhesive layer helps to minimise pain during dressing removal and also provides a secure hold to keep the dressing in place. The soft and flexible design of Biatain® Silicone Ag conforms to the wound and the body, and the foam pad on the skin surface makes Biatain® Silicone Ag comfortable to use under compression.
Aseptic use
Biatain® Silicone Ag has a 3-piece non-touch section for easy and aseptic application.
Product composition
Biatain® Silicone Ag is a soft and conformable polyurethane foam dressing containing an ionic silver complex homogeneously distributed in the foam matrix. The dressing has a semi-permeable, bacteria and water impermeable top film and a soft silicone adhesive layer.
Use
Biatain® Silicone Ag is indicated for a wide variety of exuding wounds with delayed healing due to bacteria or at risk of infection, including leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, second-degree burns, donor sites, postoperative wounds, and traumatic wounds (e.g., skin abrasions, skin tears, lacerations). It may be used in conjunction with compression therapy.
