This product is designed to fill infected wounds. The design and structural integrity of the dressing can be adjusted to suit any size, shape and depth of wound. It is also fortified with a silver complex that contains a broad antimicrobial profile.

Mechanism of Action

On contact with wound exudate, the dressing transforms into a soft, viscous gel that conforms closely to the wound bed. The silver complex releases ions in the presence of wound exudate.

Product Composition

Biatain® Alginate Ag is an alginate dressing composed of alginate, carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) and an ionic silver complex.

Use

Biatain® Alginate Ag may be used on moderately to heavily exuding, partial to full thickness wounds. It is indicated for use in wounds at risk of infection or infected wounds, under compression bandages, and for leg ulcers, pressure sores, diabetic foot ulcers, donor sites, traumatic wounds and second degree burns. However, it should not be used on dry or lightly exuding wounds or to control heavy bleeding.
